The trend of more well-known, high-profile figures from outside the world of combat sports joining various MMA federations continues at its best. This time we're talking about well-known social activist Maja Sta\u015bko, who decided to take part in a gala organized by the High League federation. As it turned out, however - the activist's decision to join an organization promoting a rather controversial approach to combat sports triggered an avalanche of not always positive comments.<\/span><\/p>\n

Who is Maja Sta\u015bko?<\/span><\/h2>\n

Maja Sta\u015bko\u00a0<\/strong>is a Polish influencer, screenwriter and journalist born on September 13, 1990. She is a doctoral student of interdisciplinary studies at the Institute of Polish Philology at the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznan. She is also widely involved in social activism. Her activities have aroused a lot of controversy from the beginning, especially because the activist often takes up difficult and controversial topics - and also because she very often gets into rather heated arguments with Internet users.\u00a0<\/span>Maja Sta\u015bko <\/strong>because it deals with the topics of violence against women, rape, or social injustice in the broadest sense.<\/span><\/p>\n

Maja Stasko was particularly notorious when she (like many in the industry) reproached Anna Lewandowska for fat shaming after a high-profile video in which the latter danced in a self-published recording dressed only in a caricatured \"fat suit\" and colorful stilettos.<\/span><\/p>\n

The activist caused much more controversy when she got into a verbal skirmish on Twitter with Polsat journalist Agnieszka Gozdyra, who criticized Sta\u015bko's understanding of feminism.\u00a0<\/span>Maja Sta\u015bko\u00a0<\/strong>In a series of responses to the journalist, she reproached her for, among other things, her age, which many Internet users then reproached her for, suggesting a denial of her alleged values.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

At the beginning of August 2022, the woman announced that she intended to participate in an MMA gala organized by the High League federation.<\/span><\/p>\n

Maja Sta\u015bko will take part in High League 4<\/span><\/h2>\n

At the beginning of August 2022, Maja Sta\u015bko announced that she intends to take part in a freak fight MMA gala (i.e. fights organized for celebrities and people recognized for other reasons, rather than professional athletes) organized by the High League federation. Adding spice in the eyes of many is the fact that the fight is being organized by, among others, rapper Malik Montana, known for his sexist comments, with whom Sta\u015bko has also had a run-in with in the past.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Announcing his decision,\u00a0<\/span>Maja Sta\u015bko<\/strong>\u00a0She noted that she intends to donate part of the money she will raise through this to charity. As the activist revealed, about 20,000 zlotys from her salary will be donated to the Fortior Foundation, which deals extensively with helping men who have experienced violence. The woman stressed that she hopes the funds she donates will raise public awareness of domestic violence against men, as well as help fund training apartments for men who have run away from home.<\/span><\/p>\n

Another 20 thousand zlotys, meanwhile, is to be given to the Center for Women's Rights. The money is also to be used to help victims of domestic violence. As the\u00a0<\/span>Maja Sta\u015bko,\u00a0<\/strong>Its goal is to provide a safe roof over the heads of women who are fleeing abusive partners.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Controversy after Stasko decision<\/span><\/h2>\n

Despite the fact that the activist has decided to donate a not inconsiderable sum from her profits to charity, the biting comments against her have not quieted down. Their authors are both people from circles close to the one she belongs to\u00a0<\/span>Maja Sta\u015bko,\u00a0<\/strong>As well as ordinary Internet users. Those who criticize the activist accuse her of denying her previously held values, chasing money, and engaging in ventures that a person with such a reputation should not support. After all, MMA galas, especially those maintained in the freak fight convention, still arouse a great deal of conflicting emotions in Polish society.<\/span><\/p>\n

On the other hand - there is also no shortage of opinions praising the activist's decision. Her supporters explain that Maja Stasko's presence at the gala will help draw attention to the still often ignored problem of domestic violence against men. They also praise the woman for her willingness to donate a sizable sum to charitable organizations.<\/span><\/p>\n

Regardless of controversy or comments from Internet users, the decision she made\u00a0<\/span>Maja Sta\u015bko\u00a0<\/strong>seems to be final. There are many indications that we will soon see her in the octagon, just as we saw Jasia Kapela before.<\/span><\/p>\n

High League 4 - when?\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n

The High League 4 gala will take place on September 17 at the Arena Gliwice. In addition to Maja Stasko, spectators will have the opportunity to see Lexy Chaplin, Denis Za\u0142\u0119cki, Mini Majka, and Amadeus \"Ferrari\" Ro\u015blik, among others, in the octagon. Interestingly, this will be the first time a well-known boxer, Artur Szpilka, will present himself at a gala of this type. For the time being, not much is known about a possible television broadcast of the event.
