We give up meat more often than in the autumn and winter months. Salads are quick to prepare, do not require too much culinary knowledge, are ideal for summer heat, are nutritious, healthy and low in calories. Ideal not only for women who care about the figure. One of the oldest and most popular is Caesar salad. What is its history, what is the reason for the fascination with this dish and most importantly - how to prepare it in your own home?<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Origins<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Many food critics, but also gourmets who enjoy the traditional Caesar salad, wonder what are its origins?  Is its creation a result of chance, or is it, however, a result of previous attempts and the juxtaposition of various ingredients? One legend says that its originator was Caesar Cardini, who prepared the meal from ingredients he just happened to have on hand. All this happened in 1924, and since then Caesar salad has been one of the most popular in the world. Cardini was an Italian who emigrated to America. It was on foreign soil that he created a dish that reminded him of his Italian roots. So what is the secret to the perfect Caesar salad? A succulent fresh romaine salad, croutons, Parmesan cheese and a dressing consisting of olive oil, garlic, lemon juice, anchovy-based dressing and spices. Not many ingredients, and the perfect combination. In Poland, sometimes pieces of grilled chicken are added to Caesar salad. For any well-known dish, all sorts of variations on its theme are created. When preparing a salad in your own home, it is best to start with the traditional version. How, then, to accomplish this?<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Prepare the Caesar salad yourself<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The main ingredient is fresh, juicy romaine lettuce. It is very healthy, contains valuable vitamins, as well as calcium, phosphorus, potassium, magnesium and iron. It has a beneficial effect on the immune system. Before serving, the lettuce should be washed, cleaned and cut or torn into smaller pieces. The next step is to prepare tiny croutons. Just slice the baguette and fry it for about 5 minutes to get a golden color.  We can buy Parmesan cheese in cubes and grate it before serving, or use the grated version. It all depends on personal taste. The most involved will be the preparation of the sauce. The specific taste will be due to the anchovy base. What is it? This is the term for preparations ( among other sauces) from European anchovies characterized by a pungent taste and smell. To prepare the sauce, we need pressed garlic combined with mayonnaise, mustard, lemon juice and anchovy sauce. The whole thing should be seasoned with salt and pepper. All the ingredients should be mixed, poured over the prepared sauce and sprinkled with Parmesan cheese. For those who want to diversify this version, I still recommend pieces of grilled or fried chicken. Caesar salad will then be more filling. As it turns out, it takes very little time to prepare this dish, and it tastes great. It is worth introducing this recipe permanently to family menus.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Dinner for friends starring Caesar salad<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>In Poland, the popularity of Caesar salad is growing every year, thanks to the popularity of Italian cuisine. Why not invite friends over for dinner and prepare this salad? I recommend fresh tomato soup for the first course, and Caesar salad for the second. Such a combination will be perfect for a summer evening with loved ones. As dessert, you can prepare sorbet ice cream or fruit salad. Gourmets of Caesar salad emphasize that it combines contrasting ingredients, which combined together create a unique whole. The dish is low in calories and looks beautiful on the plate. Even people who are not proficient in the kitchen , will easily prepare this salad and delight guests. \" In one of the seaside towns I discovered a tiny restaurant that served a traditional Caesar salad. I ate it every day. This taste makes me think of the most beautiful vacations of my life,\" confessed Catherine, who cannot imagine any feast without Caesar salad. \" You have to grow up to Caesar salad, just like to some dishes. The taste is not obvious, but unique,\" adds Catherine's husband when asked if he shares his wife's culinary fascination.<\/p>\n<p>Faced with Caesar salad, no one remains indifferent. The distinct pungent flavor is tempered by delicate lettuce and croutons. It is worth going to a good restaurant to try the original Caesar salad prepared by expert chefs. Only later can you prepare your own variations on its theme. Especially in the summer, when the heat takes its toll, it's good to have an alternative to the traditional, rather heavy and caloric Polish cuisine. The taste of Caesar salad can be loved, hated or slowly convinced. Which group are you in? It's worth exploring new flavors to enjoy the variety offered by European and world cuisine. It's not worth stopping at the familiar.  Because life is about flavors. It is only up to ourselves what those flavors will be. Sweet or bitter?
