A wedding at first sight - TVN's leading show

Ślub od pierwszego wejrzenia, is one of the leading life style programs of TVN television channel. Despite the fact that it raises many controversies, it is on the list of the station's leading projects. During its broadcast millions of Poles sit in front of their TV sets to follow the lives of its participants. Would you dare to be one of them?

A wedding at first sight - TVN's leading show

Wedding at First Sight has been one of the most watched TV shows in recent years. This year, for the seventh time, we can follow the fates of three couples who decided to take part in this experiment. Although, as it turns out, it is not always successful, as most couples eventually decide to get divorced, it does not scare more daredevils to send in their applications.

The condition for participation in the program is to remain single and have no previous marriages on the account of life achievements. The creators of the program do not complain about the number of applications. As they show in their program there are hundreds of them for each edition. So there is plenty to choose from. However, looking at the final results, it is not clear whether it is good or bad. Does such a large number of applications help in the selection of partners or rather hinders it.

To compare and evaluate the Polish version of the format, TVN also broadcasts its Australian version on its Internet channel TVN Player. However, the Australian version is much more interesting and pleasant to watch. First of all, it is a shortened version, only three couples are paired, thanks to which the action is more dynamic than in Australia, where in the sixth episode, we still do not know all the couples and we do not know what is happening with the previous five.

Psychologist or matchmaker?

The formula of the program is that out of hundreds of applications two psychologists and one anthropologist, on the basis of anthropophysical features, characters, personality and expectations match three couples. Their role can therefore be compared to that of the matchmakers of the past, working in matrimonial offices. However, they finished their work at the moment of the first meeting of the couple, and it was certainly not the Registry Office, but a simple date, a meeting over coffee.

The show's hosts went a step further, the couples meet for the first time in a registry office, where they get married. Let's add that the two daredevils had never seen each other before. Such a feat can be compared to jumping over a precipice, either you succeed or you fall.

In order to match couples with each other so that they can survive the first month of the experiment, after which they will make the right decision on what to do next, marriage or divorce, the anthropologist and psychologists take into account a number of factors. As talked about extensively, in the first and second seasons of the show, they compare personality traits, character of the applicants, physical characteristics, likes, passions, vivacity, expectations, approach to life and relationship. However, observing the turn of participants and the way couples are paired in the show, it is difficult to come to a conclusion whether the presenters are guided by any logic or not. Sometimes they combine opposites and sometimes similarities.

Wedding at first sight - courage or desperation of the participants?

It is also worth wondering what is the motive of people who sign up for such a controversial progam. Analyzing the attitude of some participants and comments posted on social media watching the format, one can be tempted to come up with a few theories. The first one is actually finding love. Many people currently have no luck in this regard, which is influenced by a large number of factors. Another issue is the desire to gain popularity, to appear in the media world. There is no denying that several of the contestants have made quite a career as influencers, and the program has certainly helped them gain a lot of followers on their social media profiles.

Observing the attitudes of the participants and their expectations, often exaggerated, as well as the self-image of some of them, we have to ask ourselves a question, whether it is their attitude that does not influence the lack of a partner. Some of them are self-centered, make their relationship with their partner dependent on their weight, or with their partner on their financial possibilities and professional ambitions. There were also participants who preferred to see their mothers rather than their spouses. As a society, however, we are well aware that mothers-in-law should not interfere in young marriages, especially those that have arisen in such a controversial manner.

Loneliness among Poles and marriage

One might be tempted to say that First Look Wedding promotes the old-fashioned institution of marriage. Old-fashioned? Yes, well more and more couples prefer to live on the so-called "cat's paw", thinking that this way it is easier to part when something goes wrong. On the one hand this is true, on the other hand in the past when something was broken you fixed it, not threw it away. However, it is also worth taking into account the fact that nowadays a joint credit is more cementing than a marriage. According to official statistics, according to GOV data, the curve of marriages contracted in Poland since 1980, resembles a sinusoid.

Finally, it should be noted that in the program there were couples who managed to create permanent and happy marriages, in which there were even children. We congratulate them.
